The Danone Institute of Japan (DIJ)

The Danone Institute of Japan was established on December 12, 1998.
The Danone Institute, a non-profit organization founded by the Danone Group, which is the biggest food company in France aims to support research in food and nutrition, and contribute to people to provide information about health and nutrition in 17 countries in Europe, America, and Asia. On December 1998, the 15th Danone Institute was established in Japan as the Danone Institute of Japan (DIJ).

PURPOSE
The common purpose of the Danone Institute is based on next three items. The Danone Institute of Japan carries out activities following the actual states in Japan.
(1) Promoting interchange of researchers and specialists of health and nutrition.
(2) Contributing knowledge in connection with the health and nutrition to public.
(3) Awarding grants and prizes, and supporting research relating to food and health.

ACTIVITIES
The contents of concrete activities are based on the next three purposes.
(1) Supporting research and making out action programs about research support.
(2) Hosting an annual forum and various symposiums on health and nutrition.
(3) Distributing educational materials for medical doctors and specialists in education.

On November 1999, the first Danone Nutrition Forum was held, and the actual activities started in Japan.
